South Kailash:
Shivapurana, the ancient scripture of Shaivism, depicts that on the auspicious occasion of the wedding ceremony of Lord Shiva with Goddess Parvathi which took place in Mount Kailash, all the deities gathered to get the blessings of the Ultimate Lord. Due to the weight of the crowd, the Earth underwent an axial shift. In order to balance, Lord Shiva chose Maharishi Ahasthya. As per the Divine order, Ahasthya travelled down south towards Western Ghats and sat in penance to offset the shift. Thus the North and the South got balanced.
The place where Maharishi Ahasthya conducted penance was called ‘South Kailash’ and is presently located in Thirumurthi Hills. The peak of South Kailash, in appearance, resembles the Mount Kailash of Himalayas. According to the ancient palm leaf manuscripts readings, South Kailash of Western Ghats is equally vibrant as Mount Kailash of Himalayas
The entire surrounding is filled with Divine vibrations and whoever comes to the vicinity gets the exuberant charge. The lush green hills surrounding the sacred peak, has witnessed the divine penances of many Saints, Sages (Rishis) and Yogis for thousands of years.
